You know those days where you're so bored yet too lazy to do anything about it?
Yup, that was me today. After hours of doing nothing on the internet, I ended up watching Danny Wallace's videos on youtube, and may I say, it has changed my life forever.
You know the film 'Yes Man' with Jim Carrey, Zooey Deschanel and Bradley Cooper? Well, Danny Wallace is the REAL Yes man. Yes, he really did say yes to everything.
He then has a book called 'Friends like these' in which he goes looking for his old school friends around the world to reunite their friendship. Absolute genius this book is.
And last but not least, 'Join me'. He decides to create a website asking people to 'Join Me', where he doesn't give any information at all about what these people are joining. Eventually, thousands of people join. He accidentally started a cult.
I have always felt great admiration towards Danny after reading these three books, not only because they are absolutely amazingly funny, but because the books are just so cleverly written.
However, it wasn't until I saw a video on youtube about him where my admiration reached the maximum and exploded.
I came across the video 'How to create your own country'. Yes. That's right. Danny Wallace created his own country, named 'Lovely'. He created his own anthem, flag, tries to invade islands (yet fails, meaning the only piece of land they had was Danny's flat), creates his own bank, his own television channel, his own currency, his own government and, well, ended up having around 60,000 members. He named himself king.
May that be the most amazing and coolest thing you have ever heard in your life? Probably.
It's crazy. I love it. It's hard for me to believe how somebody can make such a difference in life.
If he can do it, then so can I. I mean, why not? There's nothing to lose. Maybe I'll create a cult of my own. Maybe I'll create a bed/mobile.
Maybe that's the whole point of this blog.
Maybe not.
